This is a Facebook success story!! Many years ago, in another lifetime, my first husband and I were close friends and neighbors with Don and Pam Battiston. We both lived in the Stony Corners neighborhood and our kids were friends too. Fast forward through a divorce, a couple of moves for both families, kids grown up and married and with kids of their own. And then there’s Facebook.
I am friends with Hannah Battiston, one of the Battiston kids who used to babysit for Chiara. Hannah has 3 children of her own now and was looking forward to going to Nantucket to the family’s home there and spend a week or two in the sun with her parents, siblings and the kids’ cousins. She wrote about it on Facebook.
Chiara and Tom decided to vacation in Nantucket and when they told me when they were going and that they were staying in Madaket, I excitedly told Chiara that I was pretty sure Hannah would be there and I hoped they would meet up.
Chiara tried to reach Hannah on Facebook but didn’t get a response – I think Hannah was just not online at that time. Anyway, Chiara took Finley down to the beach in Madaket and who does she run into? Hannah and kids! A great reunion took place – Chiara got to visit with Don and Pam and many of the many grandchildren Don and Pam have! I had such a vicarious thrill and just think it was just fantastic that Chiara was able to reunite with people that were important in her early life.

Bill Ding and his band of clowns are the security patrol for this blog site. He is a favorite toy from the 50*s. By the way sometimes a blog is just an ego-maniacal stream of conscience.
