What do you think of starting the week with a six word summation of your life? The gauntlet was thrown down, the challenge put forth AND this week I have THREE more contributions from my readers!!! YES I am EXCITED!!

I know this sounds like a daunting task; when I first read about it in an AARP magazine, their challenge was a Six Word Memoir – Cheating Death.  NOW that’s hard.  From there I looked up Larry Smith who is the founder of the Six-Word Memoir Project which led me to:  http://www.smithmag.net/ (you will have to cut and paste because for some reason I am not grabbing a live link) and there, is a whole world clever witty memoirs sent in by people all over the world.

So here published for the first time anywhere:

The dog ate my homework – Gail

Memoir? My life isn’t over yet – Dani

There’s a shimmy in my spirit – Cynthia

Many of the readers of this blog know who Dani and Gail are and I think they deserve props for so graciously sending in their thoughts. Cynthia is a SITS-za who happened across my blog through the wonderful bloggy world of SITS-The Secret is in the Sauce.  You can read all about this Northern Californian kindred soul who is a photographer and loves to dance, eat chocolate and go to flea markets – YES this is my kindred spirit, you know it.  Here is a link to her blog – A Shimmy In My Spirit.

This week has been fruitful; Look what’s happening! My  readers are sending in their personal Six Word Memoirs!! Yay!

Although a bit challenging, this little writing exercise REALLY makes you think about yourself, your life, your wishes, your loves, your losses and your goals.  AND it changes weekly or more often as your mood changes and your outlook centers on yet another side of our Rubix Cube lives.

Susan, my longtime childhood friend sent me this:

Driving Infiniti-must I come back?

And from Ruby, who recently lost her mother and whose heart is heavy:

Mothered mother and back to me.

Gail, friend, and blog contributor has this to say about these past few weeks here in the Northeast:

Too hot, too sticky, too much!

Last but not least, I am honored once again by Anna of Goannatree.blogspot.com with:

Rewriting in the Scottish summer rain.

Brilliant, just brilliant – I love it!  THANK YOU THANK YOU for participating.  Let’s keep this going.

Summer is, I am, living it. by me.

I bet  you thought I was going to give this up since so few of you sent in a response? NOT – going to keep on plugging away at this and see if I can lure in some more talent.

I did get a submission from one of my friends and followers affectionately known to those who know as Weez:  Thanks much!

Should have attended a better college

Recently as you may have read I had a day in the sunshine in the blogosphere because one of my posts was featured on the SITS (The Secret is in the Sauce) site.  If you are interested in learning more about SITS there is a button on my page which you can click thru to. AND as a result of that day of the 259 hits, I received an entry to our Monday  Six Word Memoir exercise.  It was sent in by Anna of  Goannatree (http://goannatree.blogspot.com/).  Anna is in her own words; Reader. Thinker. Writer. Traveler. Dreamer. Scholar. I’m honored that she stopped by my blog and took the time to send in a Six Word Memoir and her’s is: Dancing around the world and back. If you visit her blog you’ll understand the memoir.

And for this week as I sum up my life in six words:

Two husbands, two children, two lives

Merry Monday to everybody!

A simple little challenge expressed in six words…. Smith Magazine is the founder of the Six Word Memoirs and I have co-opted it into my weekly blog.  I think this might be the third or fourth week and within the framework of the basic premise ONE LIFE, I try to introduce a topic in hopes that some of my readers will participate and send in a Six Word Memoir of their own!!

Well, well, finally I’m pleased to report that I have one response to feature.

Gail:  Seriously funny, But not too serious

This week’s Six Word Memoirs topic is: Mother

My own for this week is   Cancer won – I lost my Mommy

Actually I have another one –  Mommies are forever kissing the booboos

Would love it if some more responses were sent in especially since I KNOW there are a couple of writers reading this blog!   And for fun, I suggest you visit the sites:   http://www.velvetverbosity.com where you will be introduced to the 100 word story challenge; some good writing and reading and http://www.smithmag.net/sixwords

Put your thinking cap on, exercise your brain, express yourself.

Just to make it easier to respond…in my first Six Word Memoirs Monday I referenced the origin of this clever Hemmingway-esque approach to storytelling to Smith Magazine.  I visited their site today and their  subject of the Six Word Memoir for today is ONE LIFE. So I’m offering this topic to you in addition to SUMMER and hope you will think about it, play with it, muse on it and even put the pen to one or in this case the keyboard.  Here’s mine for the day: Married too young. Remarried, older, wiser.

This is not meant to be too challenging and certainly not too serious – I know my own today sounds “deep”  – that’s just my mood today.  My life in six words could just as easily be: Stick around. It only gets better.

I happened to be reading or rather leafing through the latest edition of the AARP magazine. OH GOD what a revelation! And I put in writing!!  Anyway, I came across a page entitled Six-Word Memoirs.  This particular page featured Six-Word Memoirs/Cheating Death.  They were great, really clever.  I discovered there’s something called The Six-Word Memoir Project and  I googled the term and found out that Larry Smith founded the project which is based on a literary legend.  As the story goes, Ernest Hemingway was once asked to write a story in six words.  His response:

“For Sale: Baby Shoes, never worn”.

The editors of Smith magazine challenged writers to craft their own six-word memoirs, and got some interesting results. Most of them sound kinda like crosses between a personal ad and a haiku…  Larry and co-author, Rachel Ferschleiser also have a new book coming out;  It All Changed in an Instant.

We’re all articulate and intelligent here, right??  So  I’m  inviting you to submit your own Six-Word Memoirs in any category.  AARP has invited its readers to share a Six-Word story about their worst mistake and they’ll publish some of the best – so will !!!

Here is my Six-Word Memoir about a worst mistake although the error’s  not mine.                        The oil spreads, fish are dead
