Hidden Feature On Foil & Plastic Wrap Boxes? : TipNut.com.

My friend Gail sent this link to me a couple of days ago – it seems My Ode to a Shirt Cardboard reminded her that she is on a crusade to spread the foil, I mean word about this little known household hint/fact!  Actually I did know about it because my sister-in-law came to my house one weekend and while we were cooking she demonstrated this little trick to me.

I was flabbergasted –  I consider myself an observant person to the world around me and certainly I COOK a lot so how come after omg this many years,  I never knew or heard about this feature!!??   So as promised I am joining Gail’s crusade and spreading Stacey’s word and I advise you to check out the link – just proving again that you are never too old to learn something new!

Pappardelle with Caramelized Onions and Parmesan.

Tonight’s dinner except I used Farfalle-it was DELICIOUS!! I want to make it sometime for guests because it is pasta BUT not your ordinary pasta and sauce dish or as we knew it in my house growing up – macaroni and gravy.  And just because Mr. P insists that I don’t give him enough vegetables, we had escarole too.  Even if pride cometh before the fall, I have to say this meal was totally great. And YES it is a Martha recipe.  The recipe for caramelized onions and the pappardelle dish came out of Every Day Food.  The escarole recipe came from Wegman’s.

My Funny Valentine

Learning or rather re-learning for the 4th or 5th time to knit (European style)- many many thanks to Susan! A quick sortie onto Facebook and wow – on for 2 minutes and 3 friends found me to chat. I have got to go there more often. Had fun doing arts and crafts – this Grandma/Gigi “made/created” two fantastic Valentine cards. Do you remember how much fun it was to paste doilies, stickers and cut up construction paper – OH YEAH! Almost completely packed to go to Boston and can’t wait to see little Miss Finny. We may even bake Valentine cookies! What’s the best way to get to Boston from New York? Take the Bolt Bus, they are clean, not too big, basically always on time and have electrical outlets for electronic devices. The prices aren’t as good as they used to be – I once made the round trip for $12 and then took a cab from Penn Station home to the UES and the ride cost over $20!!!!! Just hope the impending snow storm is not going to hamper this trip. And along the lines of banal remarks – I made delicious Beef Ministrone in the crock pot today, sooooo gooood.
And now to watch 3 episodes of DVR’d Grey’s Anatomy (I told you I was an addict).

It's All About the Pickle

It was a great game and YES I did watch the whole game!! Peter and I joined several other Saints fans and gathered at Jim and Susan’s house for a SUPER Super Bowl Party.  It was a fun game to watch even though the first half had the Saints behind. We started out with the usual football fare of corn chips with several dips including a hot and spicy cheese dip Susan made.  At half time dinner food was served and the variety of entrees was superb.  Susan made a very hearty turkey chilli and Chris brought a huge pan of baked ziti-delicious.  True to my devotion to Marthaspeak, I thought it only appropriate to bring a themed dish so my contribution was Red Beans and Rice New Orleans style.  The secret is in the pickle meat . That’s right, pickle meat ! Sleep on that one…. Good Night!
