Are you hosting a bridal shower or baby shower?  Having a Tea Party for your daughter and her friends?  Or do you need favors for a birthday party.  Need an unique gift idea for someone’s retirement, recovery?  Great gift for both secular and religious holidays.

THEY LOOK TOO GOOD TO EAT!

Today I came across Soji’s Honey Bakeshop  in an email from PURE WOW, which is fast becoming one of my favorite web sites.  It is a fantastic source of recipes and often features new specialty shops.  The photo of the cookies caught my eye, they are colorful, shapely and just so pretty! The following description is taken directly from PURE WOW:

Creator, Sogoal Zolghadri uses a simple homemade frosting and gel food coloring to hand paint watercolor-esque treats in her Red Hook Studio.

Everything about her mini works of art is customizable (from shape to color to design to price). For weddings, you could commission your names. Baby showers: Consider a classic storybook theme. Birthdays definitely call for something festive. But a random Friday? That’s for feelings.

As for the taste, expect a classic sugar-cookie recipe with almond extract and a hint of orange zest (meaning they’re not just a pretty face).

At least two weeks in advance of your fête, order online and Zolghadri will deliver to you in the city or ship nationwide.

I visited the bakery’s website and in FAQ section, learned they will custom paint your order with whatever design you want.  Price varies on complexity of design.  They ship of course.

I’m posting just a few of the magnificent examples of artistry they offer – Please go to their Facebook page or Etsy.  You won’t believe what Soji’s can create!

Has this recipe got my name written all over it or What?  What could be more up Pbenjay’s alley than not one BUT TWO of my favorite foods;  Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches and best of all Ice Cream!  This recipe comes from Honestly YUM. The following is from that web site:

“This recipe is so simple I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before. I mean, who wouldn’t love a dessert version of a PB&J sandwich. It’s pretty much my go-to sandwich whenever I’m too lazy to make dinner. The jam ice cream can be made with any jam you like, but I love blackberry jam with the seeds studded in there. You can also make our blackberry bourbon vanilla jam. The gluten-free peanut butter cookies are the most intensely peanut butter cookie you’ll ever have. I’ll admit I was skeptical about the gluten-free part, but they’re really delicious. Resist the temptation to eat them straight out of the oven. Combine the two and you’ve got the ultimate ice cream sandwich that will be the envy of any 1st grader.”

Candy Canes - A Christmas Icon

Candy Canes – A Christmas Icon

Before today I had never heard of Candy Cane Dust or Peppermint Powder.  However, once I read how ridiculously simple this was to make and the number of ways you could use it, I knew I had to blog it.  There is only one ingredient and only one step!

CANDY CANE DUST

Put candy canes in a food processor and pulverize them to dust.

Candy Cane Dust is delightful sprinkled on your hot cocoa and your coffee.  Sprinkle it on ice cream, yogurt, cupcake frosting or add to your cake and cookie batter.

Why oh why did I ever bring those cookies home?  I know why I bought them, I mean really whoever says, “No, I don’t want to buy your cookies”, “Now scram!”  Okay so I bought not one but three boxes (no accounting for lack of self-discipline).  Then I brought them home from the office last night and wouldn’t you know,  the same thing happened that happened last year!  (there’s no accounting for inability to learn from previous mistakes) – I heard them calling my name!  At first I thought I heard a faint voice in the distance and thought maybe it was someone out in the hall.  But then the voice grew stronger and stronger until it was perfectly clear to me that I was being beckoned!  And well you can guess what happened next, do I really have to admit it?  Nine cookies later, three from each box ( I wanted to be fair to all).

They’re evil.  Yes, Girl Scout Cookies are evil even if they don’t have any trans fats in them.  You might find these previous blogs interesting;  https://pbenjay.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/the-ten-retired-girl-scout-cookies-fans-miss-most-divine and  https://pbenjay.wordpress.com/2010/03/17/girl-scout-cookies-are-evil/ – I think you will have to copy and paste, I couldn’t seem to make the  links live.

I have to get them out of this house! So tomorrow, I’m going to invite my daughter and granddaughter over and as the benevolent Gigi that I am, give them ALL to them (well maybe I’ll keep a few lemon cremes).
