Over the years there have been HUNDREDS of articles filled with speculation that the MOB, MAFIA and CIA were involved in the murder of President John F. Kennedy.  COUP D”ETAT is a conspiracy theory and the title says it all – READ on….

THE MOB

In the last months of the Eisenhower Administration, secret meetings mediated by ex FBI agent and Howard Hughes aide Robert Maheu were held between CIA agents and organized crime figures for the purpose of plotting to kill Fidel Castro.  By 1960, the Cuban leader had nationalized U.S. interest, closed casinos, shut down drug labs and deported most of the mobsters.  The gangster with the most to gain from the elimination of Castro was Santo Trafficante Jr., former Mafia boss of Havana who with his partner, casino developer and financial wizard, Meyer Lansky, had inherited Lucky Luciano‘s heroin operations.  Trafficante financed terrorist raids against Cuba run by CIA agent Frank Sturgis‘ Miami-based International Anti-Communist Brigade.  In 1962, Trafficante told Cuban exile and FBI informant Jose Aleman that “Kennedy is in trouble and he will get what is coming to him…Kennedy is not going to make it to the election.  He’s going to be hit.”  West Coast mobster Johnny Rosselli, another CIA-Mafia plotter, later alleged that Castro was warned of plans to kill him by a double-agent, possibly Trafficante, and that Castro, assuming the plots to be official US policy had killed Kennedy in retaliation.

The Kennedy brothers did not know about the CIA-Mafia plots until 1962, when Robert Kennedy found the CIA interfering in Justice Department prosecution of first Mafia leader contacted by Maheu, Chicago boss Sam Giancana.  Participation in CIA-Mafia plots wasn’t Giancana’s only protection.  His girlfriend, Judith Campbell and President Kennedy had been lovers for two years.  In 1963, the Justice Department ordered the FBI to curtail surveillance of Giancana.

JEAN SOUETRE

After Kennedy’s death, French Intelligence asked the FBI to help locate Jean Souetre, a French Secret Army Organization (OAS) terrorist previously jailed for attempting to kill French President Charles De Gaulle.  According to a CiA document dated April 1,1964 (which surfaced in 1977), the French claimed Souetre was in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, and was expelled by U.S. authorities 18 hours later.  Concerned with security for De Gaulle’s upcoming Mexican visit, they wanted to know whether he had been sent to Mexico or Canada.

When Jack Ruby was jailed for killing Lee Oswald, his lawyer asked him if he knew anyone who could damage his defense.  Ruby mentioned Thomas Eli Davis III with whom he had run guns and jeeps to Cuba.  In 1963, Davis, while on probation for bank robbery, obtained a U. S. passport.  By Decem ber he was in a Tangier jail, charged with running guns to the OAS.  According to the FBI, Moroccan authorities intercepted  a letter from Davis that referred to Oswald and the assassination.  Davis was apparently released from jail through the efforts for mysterious CIA agent code-named QJWIN, a foreign nation with Mafia connections who was recruited for the AZ/RIFLE team, a CIA assassination unit run by ex-FBI agent and Cuban exile handler William Harvey.

Is Jean Souetre QJ/WIN? OAS terrorists were deeply involved in heroin trafficking.  In 1963, the main American distributor of Marseilles-produced heroin was the Lucky Luciano syndicate run by Meyer Lansky and Tampa mafia boss Santos Trafficante Jr., formerly of Havana, who was William Harvey’s partner in the CIA-Mafia plots to kill Fidel Castro.

November 22, 1963 – John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  Do you believe one lone killer did this?  Really??  This is the 26th installment of the conspiracy theory, COUP D’ETAT.  The trail is leading us to a conspiracy formulated at the highest government levels.  You can read the entire conspiracy theory up to this point by clicking on the category, Conspiracy Theory Wednesday on my home page.

The Policeman’s Pimp – Jack Ruby

From his days as ” Sparky Rubenstein, errand boy for Al Capone, to his ownership of a string of Dallas nightclubs where policemen got preferential  treatment, Ruby was “one of our boys” according to mobster Johnny Roselli, with whom Ruby met twice during the month prior to the assassination.  Other gangster friends of Ruby’s included Joe Civello, Dallas Mafia chief: Barney Baker, teamster president Jimmy Hoffa‘s 370-lb bodyguard; and Dave Yaras, hitman  for Chicago mob boss Sam Giancanna.   Known as the guy who could “fix it” with e the police, Ruby counted ast least 100 Dallas cops among his pals.

Ruby’s self-professed idol was Lewis J. McWillie, a professional gambler who worked at te mob-owned  Tropicana Hotel in Havana.  In 1959, Ruby visited McWillie and the two met with crime boss Santos Trafficante Jr. then in a Cuban prison.  Shortly after Ruby’s return to Dallas, Trafficante was released.  The House Select Committee on Assassination suspected Ruby, acting as a gangland courier, had bought Trafficante’s freedom.  During the six-month period that included his Havana trip, the FBI interviewed Ruby eight times as a “potential criminal informant”.   For Ruby, this was not a first: in 1947 while still in Chicago, he “performed information functions” for the staff of then-Congressman Richard Nixon.

On June 7, 1964, Ruby told the Warren Commission his “life was in danger” – “Gentlemen,” he said, “if you want to hear further testimony, you will have to get me to Washington soon because…I want to tell the truth and I can’t tell it here”.  Before he died, he smuggled two letters out of prison which hint darkly that Lyndon Johnson was behind the conspiracy.

I’m living in a world where I am omnipresent-everywhere at all times.  If you can’t reach me on my phone a/k/a house phone now a/k/a my land-line, then you can call me on my cell phone OR you can send me an email on at least two of my three email addresses OR you can text me and I will get it on my blackberry…SO why is there a problem communicating?

That was a rather loosely-connected (sorry for the pun) prologue to what really happened today.  There was a break down in communication BUT not really because I couldn’t be reached.  However, I liked writing that blurb about the absurdity of how connected we all are.

I had to make an overnight food and turkey run to New Jersey so I could pick up my turkey that I am paying $2.65 per lb for in a town that is “kinda” on the way home to New York City while my friend is paying $2.39 per lb for the same brand turkey AND if I had bought it where she did and where I did shop today I would have not had to “race” back to try and get to the City before my daughter did.  She was driving in from Boston with a baby, a baby nurse and a 2 yr. old in tow and I HAD HER KEYS! Not good!!

Here’s the break down in communication – I told my daughter that I needed to use her refrigerator on Sunday when I brought the turkey home and her freezer.  Here’s what I said, ” Will you be home on Sunday or will the key be with the doorman“?  At which point she turns around and gives me the key.  Did I think it was her only key? NO!  Today as we are trading semi-hysterical phone calls while each of us is speeding to Manhattan, she says, “You said the afternoon” – did anything I say sound like afternoon.  Someone doesn’t always listen to whole sentences.   The baby will have to be nursed, Finley will have to be fed and they will be locked out.  Ever the fixer and over-giver I come up with a plan; first I call my friend who has a key to my apartment and ask her to leave it with the  doorman – that will work.  I call Chiara back and suggest she send the car to Queens with her baby nurse so she doesn’t have to park it or park it in her garage and take a cab to my apartment with the kids.  I don’t think she appreciated my suggestion at all because she said she would just have to go to a restaurant and wait for me. Needless to say I asked at least 3 times if she thought the doorman would have a key to the apartment since it was a corporate rental.  “NO” says she and “we’ve been through this before, he doesn’t have a key”!!!

The next glitch came when we left the Orchard and because time was really of the essence, I suggested that we drive north on Rte 18 or Rte 9 and my driver thinks we should stay on Rte 34 till we hit the Garden State Parkway or the NY Thruway. Welllllll as we headed home on Rte 34 we saw a sign for the GSP and so we turned right…right into some beautiful countryside, looked like horse country BUT no Parkway.  About 20 minutes later we finally saw the entrance to the Parkway and I just knew we would never get into the City before she did. Damn it anyway!!!

I said I would call her once I was thru the tunnel and I did and guess what?? She was in her apartment – seems the doorman had a key after all (which I said I thought he would since IT WAS a corporate apartment).  But what do I know?

The other break down occurred when I tried to dash into a beauty supply store to pick up a few things and my card was declined – WHAT??!!!  I’m not even going to go into that issue – I run out of the store and to the car to get another card.  Did I mention there had been a line of people behind me in the store, oh they were thrilled. Back in the store, thrust my American Express at the girl who says, “oh we don’t take American Express”. Well, that’s that – I leave the stuff and as I run out the door, I hear the cashier calling out that she has a void!!!

HAROLDSON LAFAYETTE HUNT in 1963, Dallas was a Mecca for the ultra-right, and H.L. Hunt was their Godfather.  An oil billionaire, Hunt supported right-wing causes such as the John Birch Society, William F.  Buckley’s Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), the political campaigns of Senator Joseph McCarthy, and the tax-exempt “news” organizations Facts Forum and Lifeline.  On Nov. 4, 1063, Hunt’s security chief, an ex-FBI agent, wrote Hunt a memo on “reports of possible violence” during Kennedy’s  upcoming trip.  Hours after the assassination, the FBI told Hunt to go into hiding, and for several weeks provided him with security.  Years later, Hunt’s personal aide alleged Hunt knew of the plot, having unwittingly influenced his right-wing followers to conspire to kill Kennedy.  He added that Hunt had sent him to check on Oswald’s security in police custody.  Though Hunt and Jack Ruby claimed not to know each other, a reliable witness alleged he and Ruby had won a considerable amount of money from Hunt, an inveterate gambler, wagering on football games.  Among Ruby’s effects was the phone number of H. L.’s son, Lamar Hunt, whose offices Ruby visited on November 21, 1963.Another son, Nelson Bunker Hunt, sat on the board of the anti-communist International Committee for the Defense of Christian Culture (led by a former Nazi Abwehr agent) and was a major backer of YAF.  Bunker helped buy an ad (placed by YAF’s future executive secretary) in the Dallas Morning News the day of Kennedy’s visit, portraying the President as a Kremlin dupe.  Texas Senator John Tower, a YAF board member, personally interceded in 1962 with the Immigration and Naturalization Service in the case of – Marina Oswald.

There are about 10 installments left to complete this conspiracy theory.  I rarely get comments on these posts so I don’t know if they’re read, understood or interesting to anyone other than myself.   I would like to hear from you on this widely accepted theory that Lee Harvey Oswald was not the sole assassin in the murder of John F. Kennedy.   I’ve said this before and will say again, you may feel this old crime done before many of you were born doesn’t hold any real  meaning for you BUT it does!  Remember the title of the conspiracy theory is COUP D’ETAT and you know what that means…. Who was behind this heinous crime and why? Stay with it because we are getting closer and closer to finding exactly WHO would benefit from eliminating this young vibrant liberal-thinking president.  The names of the characters emerging at this point are ones that we all know, have been around a long time and are also the subject of a recently released movie/documentary titled DARK LEGACY .  There are excerpts of this movie on YouTube and I have linked you to one here:

E. Howard Hunt & Frank Sturgis

In the shadowy world of espionage, few name are more familiar than Watergate burglar and CiA agent E. Howard Hunt known as Eduardo to his Cuban exile friends.  Hunt was the political planner for the Bay of Pigs invasion and organizer of the Cuban Revolutionary Council, a government-in-exile whose New Orleans operations were run out of Guy Banister‘s office.

In the first hours after the assassination, Dallas police questioned and released many suspects without recording their identities.  Among those were three “tramps” arrested in a railroad car near the grassy knoll and photographed en route to the police station.  One of them bears a striking resemblance to Hunt, whose whereabouts on Nov. 22, are officially unknown.  It has been alleged that Hunt was stationed in Mexico City during Oswald’s Sept 1963 visit there.  In 1975, a letter thought to be in Oswald’s hand surfaced in Mexico.  Dated Nov. 8, 1963, it reads, ” Dear Mr. Hunt, I would like information conceding (sic) my position.  I am asking only for information.  I am asking that we discuss the matter fully before any steps are taken by me or anyone else.  Thank you, Lee Harvey Oswald”.

Another of the “tramps” resembles Hunt’s fellow Watergate burglar and CIA agent Frank Sturgis.  Born Frank Fionni, Sturgis had infiltrated Castro’s revolution, and was named Minister of Games of Chance when Castro came to power in 1959.   Within a year, Castro closed the casinos and the mob put up a $1 million contract on him.  After unsuccessfully attempting to poison Castro, Sturgis fled to Miami and joined Hunt and the Cuban exiles.  In 1963, he was one of the six pilots reprimanded by Kennedy for continuing  to stage terrorist rids against Cuba.

Conspiracy Theory Wednesday – CODE NAME BISHOP

I can’t believe that this is the 23rd week  we have been exploring the unfolding tale, COUP D’ETAT.    The Conspiracy Theory will continue presenting facts, MOST of which I never heard of but then again, when Kennedy was shot, I was a sophomore in high school and was not reading the newspaper or watching the news religiously – although I’m not sure the many groups were ever acknowledged in the press in those days.  The sheer number of dissident and/or anti-Castro, pro-Cuban exile organizations that have been revealed over this many weeks is quite astounding.

 

DAVID ATLEE PHILLIPS

David Atlee Phillips, a native of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, was a CIA agent specializing in propaganda.  He was on secret CIA assignment in Havana until 1960, was Mexico City covert action chief from 1961-3 (during the time of Oswald’s visit there), and was coordinator of propaganda for the Bay of Pigs invasion and for all the Cuban exile terrorist groups under the CIA umbrella.  One of these groups, Alpha 66, founded by Antonio Veciana, ignored Kennedy’s 1963 ban on terrorist action against Cuba.  Between 1960 and1973, Veciana and his CIA control officer, known to him as “Maurice Bishop“,  met more than 100 times.  Their relationship ended with a $253,000 payment from “Bishop” for past services.  Five months later, Veciana was convicted of drug smuggling.  He claimed he was set up, and suspected that “Bishop” was behind it.

In 1976, Veciana told investigators that in September, 1963 in Dallas, he had seen “Bishop” talking to a man he later realized was Lee Harvey Oswald.  Veciana added that after Kennedy’s death, “Bishop” had asked him to contact his uncle, a Cuban intelligence officer working in Mexico City, and offer him money to say he had met Oswald there in the fall of 1963.  Congressional investigators, realizing that Phillips’ career dovetailed neatly with “Bishop’s”, arranged a casual meeting between Phillips and Veciana.  Although they didn’t identify easch other, investigators felt the pair was probably lying.

Phillips, who later became CIA Western Hemisphere chief, insisted to his death that he had heard CIA surveillance tapes of the real Oswald in Mexico City, but that they had been “routinely”  destroyed.

Conspiracy Theory Wednesday

Cuba suffered greatly under the Kennedy Administration.  A cut-off in diplomatic relations had been followed by the Bay of Pigs invasion and terrorist acts by CIA-supported Cuban exiles.  Cuban Premier Fidel Castro knew the CIA was trying to kill him, eventually counting 24 attempts.  CIA death devices included poison cigars, exploding seashells, and a toxic wetsuit.  But the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis resulted in Kennedy telling Soviet Premier Khrushchev that, in return for removal of Russian missiles from Cuba, the U.S. Would not invade the island.  Meanwhile, the U.S.  Fair Play for Cuba Committee (FPCC) urged an end to the economic embargo.  In the Summer of 1063 Kennedy clamped down on CIA-exile groups that ignored his order to stop terrorist acts against Cuba, and that Fall he made secret diplomatic plans for U.S<  and Cuban representatives to meet, leaving Castro little motive to kill him.  A month before the assassination Castro said, “I believe Kennedy is sincere.  I consider him responsible for everything , but I will says this…in the last analysis I’m convinced that anyone else would be worse…I’m willing to declare Barry Goldwater my friend if it will guarantee Kennedy’s re-election.”  After Kennedy’s death, the agreed-upon secret talks were scrapped by Lyndon Johnson.

Oswald’s suspect FPCC membership connected him not to Castro, but to Cuban exile  handler Guy Banister.  CIA reports on “Oswald” in Mexico City and rumors of Oswald’s meetings with Cuban agents that circulated after the assassination seemed to link him to Castro, but they originated in the propaganda mills of CIA veterans David Phillips and E. Howard Hunt.

This conspiracy theory has been around a LONG long time.  Ask anyone old enough to remember the assassination if they REALLY believe Kennedy was shot and killed by ONE man, Lee Harvey Oswald.

Conspiracy Theory Wednesday

General Charles Cabell, whose brother Earl was the mayor of Dallas in 1963, was a former Air Force Intelligence Chief and CIA Deputy Director under Allen Dulles from 1953 to 1961.  After meeting all night before the 1961 invasion of Cuba with E. Howard Hunt, David Phillips, and others, Cabell phoned President Kennedy at 4:00am to ask for U.S. air support for the Bay of Pigs landing.  Kennedy’s refusal meant sending their proxy army to certain defeat.  Soon after the failed invasion, Kennedy fired Dulles and Cabell, and threatened to “splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds”.  “Cabell never forgave the President, and criticized him publicly and often.  On one such occasion in 1962, he was introduced to the Foreign Policy Association of New Orleans by Clay Shaw.

A heavy military intelligence presence pervaded Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.  That morning, FBI agent James Hosty met with an unnamed Army Intelligence officer.  Secret Service agent Winston Lawson, who approved the motorcade route, was a member of Army Intelligence Reserve (AIR).  Deputy Police Chief and AIR officer George Lumpkin rode on the  motorcade’s pilot car.  James W. Powell, another AIR officer, was stationed in front of the Texas School Book Depository, and was present when the rifle was found on the sixth floor.  The local head of Army Intelligence was oil man Jack Chrichton, who recommended the first Russian interpreter used by the Secret Service in questioning Marina Oswald.  The true nature of Lee Oswald’s connection to miliary intelligence remains obscure because Defense Intelligence Agency files on him were never shown to the Warren Commission and were later “routinely ” destroyed.

Week 21 and if you have been following this conspiracy you can see how all the “players”  are coming together!  And the names are getting more and more familiar as the conspiracy theory is leading us to higher and higher placed individuals. Just remember – every conspiracy is not a theory!

COUP D’ETAT – TEXAS UBER ALLES

Well we are now in week 19 of the exploration of a n elaborate conspiracy theory  about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.  The title of this theory is COUP D’ETAT and as we get further into it, the title will ring true. Remember every conspiracy is not a theory!!

GENERAL EDWIN WALKER

The “Wanted for Treason” leaflets posted in Dallas on Nov. 21,1963, were produced by an aide to retired General Edwin Walker, who had been removed from command of the Army’s 24th Division in Munich in 1961 for indoctrinating his troops with fascist propaganda.  In 1962 he was arrested and held in a mental hospital on orders  from Attorney General Robert Kennedy for leading a violent mob that tried to keep black student James Meredith from enrolling at the University of Mississippi.  Walker was visited several times in 1962-3 by Jack Ruby.  He was a leader of the John Birch Society and the Minutemen, a paramilitary group that armed and trained anti-Castro Cubans.  Two of his Cuban  contacts were Carlos Bringuier , a fellow director of the Christian Anti-Communist Youth University, and Felipe Vidal, a member of the anti-Castro terrorist group Alpha 66  who later worked in Oliver North’s illegal Contra aid network.

Walker was on a flight from New Orleans to Dallas when Kennedy’s death was announced.  He told fellow passengers they were his alibi.  The next day he phoned a neo-Nazi newspaper in Munich to report that Oswald had tried to kill him the previous April, predating Marina’s mention of this by 10 days.  Later, he posted a sign by his house reading:  “Cuba: Oswald won, Kennedy lost.”  There is no hard evidence that Oswald shot at Walker, but his name and number were in Oswald’s address book, and Oswald had a photo of his house (in which appears 1957 Chevy, possibly Felipe Vidal’s).  A further link between the two is a roll of film shot in 1963 by an acquaintance of Walker, showing the General in his Dallas home and Oswald handing out pro-Castro leaflets in New Orleans.
