HELLO to all my followers and sometime readers. I am about to hit a real benchmark and I can hardly believe it myself!  Wordpress keeps you informed on myriad details about your blog and your posts.  Everyday I see how many visitors come to the blog and what the average number of views per person is as well as from what countries the hits are coming.  I see which blog posts are the most popular, the number of views per month, and the search engine terms that people type in and end up on my blog.

All this information is useful and to some niche bloggers, it would be essential.  Unfortunately for me I never found my niche.  I write about my life, my travels, the foods I cook, the movies I see and often post information and research on dozens of totally unrelated things. I post photos of my grandchildren and the moon. I was fortunate enough to have my good friend, Murray Head send me hundreds of photos that I posted on Fab Foto Friday.  Sounds  a little scattered doesn’t it.  I think that describes the mind of a person born on the cusp of Gemini and Taurus.  At any given time, there are 3 minds at work with or against one another! 

Well here’s where I’m at;  I love writing my blog even though my husband and daughter wonder why.  I freely admit that my blog like 99% of all blogs is more or less  an egocentric stream of consciousness.  Over the short life of this blog, I’ve tried various ideas to entice a following because even though I am (supposedly) writing this for myself, don’t think for a minute that I don’t relish seeing the number of hits the blog has each day.  I loved Six Word Memoir Monday and may try to reinstate it but I need your input!  Conspiracy Theory Wednesday was a fantastic exposeé on the Kennedy Assassination, Top Ten Thursday allows for a wide range of subject matter and Tasty Tidbits Tuesday and Every Day Food are one of my joys.

BUT now I WANT YOU! I am 7 posts short of ONE THOUSAND! WOWIE ZOWIE!   I only have to write 7 more posts and I will have reached a real benchmark for myself.  I would love it if you would comment and give me some ideas as to what these next 7 posts should be about;  Do you want a repeat of one of your favs or do you have a scathingly (or not so scathingly) brilliant idea I can incorporate into a post?

Hey I’ve tried a couple of times and so far have failed to ignite my readers to just think about things; like life, love, kids, work, places, people, death, relationships and to put it down in just six words.  You know what I always say, “Just Six Words, No More, No Less”.

I thought of a few today so I’ll post mine and see what comes forth!!!

Google This!!! – Six Word Memoir Monday

If you’re a regular follower of this blog, you know that in the past, I often posted a blog entitled Six Word Memoir Monday.  Today’s Six Words are part of today’s new lexicon.  Instead of writing the words in a semi-sentence form, I’m going to give you the meanings also.  I also sometimes post a blog that features words and phrases that have passed out of our language or are on their way.  Generation X and Y are clueless when it comes to the meaning or origin of these phrases.  But the tables are turned today, these words are best understood by those under the age of 35.

Googlejuice – What your website has if it appears naturally at the top of a Google search (without having to pay for it).  

Google Politics – To make a thousand accusations, none of which are substantiated.

Google Stalk – The act of using a Google search to research a potential  boyfriend or girlfriend with the hope of obtaining information about his or her interests.

Googlephobia – The fear that Google is taking over everything and is threatening to become another Microsoft.

Googlewash – An effort by bloggers to change the meaning of a new word, term or phrase by peppering their Web logs with an alternate meaning. RESULT: A search using Google will turn up thousands of pages with the altered definition, while the pages carrying the original and intended usage get buried.

Googleverse – Another sign that Google is dominating our world.  It’s the collection of Web pages, images or content indexed or otherwise connected to Google and therefore now part of the Google universe.

Although it hardly seemed like Monday, apparently it was and still is…. sure seemed like Sunday to me until we tried to have breakfast at Sunset Landing and it was closed as it always is on MONDAY!

Regardless of the holiday, Monday still is a six letter word signaling the one day a week that Six Word Memoirs are welcomed, posted and published. And this week we have some great contributions! Well now we are all about kids going back to school and college.  I think September is second only to January when it comes to making resolutions.  It’s the beginning of Autumn, a prelude to the holiday season beginning with the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.  In other words, September is full of promise of things to come and I hope I’ve given you some food for thought for next week’s Six Word Memoir.

Every week I seem to have an excuse as to why I never got around to writing Monday’s blog, so hmmm what’s mine this week? Other than exhausted from staying up most of the weekend on Irene watch which threw the household and me into a tizzy not to mention total disorder, I don’t have one.

However, clearly interest in this mental exercise has waned.  I’m lucky if I get one contribution a week these days!  However, having said that, I am very pleased by the one I did receive  because I know it comes from someone who can and does write articulately and am hoping to receive some more from that reader.

Well my least favorite weekend of the year is upon us.  Labor Day weekend never held any joy for me as it signals the end of summer.  I’m sure there are Mommies everywhere thankful that soon the daily structure of a school day will bring some order back into their households.  But for me, I just hate to think that the carefree, sun-filled days of July and August are coming to an end.  Honestly you’d think I was going back to school or at least to a 9-5 office job and neither of those are true, so I guess these are residual feelings left over from childhood.

Next Monday is the holiday and if you’re all not hot dogging or beaching it up, please send me your thoughts in six words, no more, no less.

Monday Is A Day Late Again – 6 Words!

Could this be the Holy Grail?

See how easy it is to talk and think in six words or less?  And if only all Mondays were a day late just think how much better the weekend would be.  So I did receive one reply last week to my request that we do a Six Word Memoir on some aspect of our work life, which I’m going to publish today.  And then I went to the source, the Holy Grail of Six Word Memoirs – Smith Magazine, which is an online magazine and the home of the Six Word Memoir.  Right now and for the next few days the magazine is running a contest.  This time it is on Lessons  I learned at work.  You should go and read some, they are great and of course an inspiration.  I want to try this work theme again.  I know many of my readers do not have 9-5 jobs and I say Hurray hurray!!! But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t some aspect to our work life or lack thereof that couldn’t be put into six words.  Won’t you please try?

Six Word Memoirs By Writers Famous & Obscure

I thought perhaps a little inspiration/explanation might spur some readers to participate in the Six Word Memoir challenge.  Each Monday, I try to post Six Word Memoirs sent in by readers of this blog.  I also post 5 or 6 quotes from the above-referenced book.  This Six Word Memoir “thing” is really quite popular.  There are gatherings around the country where people present their own six word memoir similar to a poetry slam.  There have been articles in the New Yorker magazine and today (well right now it IS after midnight) there is a great article on the front page of the Business section of The New York Times!!! Jump on the bandwagon and send your six words.
